Exocarpos aff aphyllus
The Flora of Australia Volume 22, page 40 states that for Exocarpos aphyllus  'plants  from the S regions of WA ...often have dark green erect branches like those of Exocarpos syrticola and have prominent inflorescence axes persistent after flowering." The plant pictured from Esperance, Western Australia met these criteria. However the plant did not cleanly key out as either species.
